    The construction of the highway A20 (BAB A20) is currently being planned between Westerstede and Drochtersen. The following two of the eight total construction phases have been completed for the city of Oldenburg:

    • BA 2 from the A 29 at Jaderberg to the B 437 at Schwei (section length 22.5 km); Prepared the project approval procedure
    • BA 3 from the B 437 at Schwei to the L 121, east of the Weser crossing (section length 10.5 km); Prepared the project approval procedure

    The route of the construction sections runs through parts that are characterized by soft layers that are close to the surface. This leads to unique substructure measures caused by pore water being squeezed from the subsoil which implies an exclusive level of construction management.


    Scope of services:

    • Conception, monitoring, supplementation, and evaluation of hydrogeological evidence preservation; and, preparation of hydrogeological and geological engineering assessments and opinions,
    • Consulting and planning for surface drainage,
    • Consulting in cooperation with construction techniques with regards to drainage and interference in groundwater hydraulic conditions,
    • Consulting in minimizing negative impacts on adjacent areas used mainly for agricultural purposes, as well as nature conservation protected areas, in particular, the prevention of waterlogging and prevention of acid sulfate soils being formed,
    • Consulting and planning in preventing adverse changes in the downstream water system, e.g. by adding iron or ammonium from preloading operations.

  • Project objective:

  • Hydrogeological and geological engineering consultancy (construction planning and follow-up)

     

    The construction of the highway A26 (BAB A26) is currently being planned and constructed between Stade and Hamburg. Four of the 5 construction sections are in Lower Saxony. The following three construction phases have been completed for the city of Stade:

    • BA 1 Stade – Horneburg (section length 11.2 km) completed
    • BA 2 Horneburg - Buxtehude (section length 9.2 km) under construction
    • BA 3 Buxtehude - national border (section length 4.1 km) under construction

    The route of the construction sections runs in the Lower Saxonian Elbmarsch, which is characterized by soft layers close to the surface. Intensive farming, mainly fruit farming is found on site, which is the foundation of pumping and permanent artificial drainage. Because the highway is located transversely in direction to the main drainage direction, the existing drainage systems have been cut; making it essential to overhaul and to a large extent to be renewed.

     

    Scope of services:

    • Consulting in surface drainage,
    • Consulting on minimizing negative impacts on adjacent fruit-growing areas and reducing impact to farmland, in particular, the prevention of water logging and the elimination of iron loads in the waters used for frost-protection,
    • Collaborating in informing the public and coordinating with drainage and maintenance associations, supporting the NLStBV in judicial and out-of-court disputes as well as supporting compensation negotiations,
    • Monitoring, supplementation, and evaluation of hydrogeological evidence preservation; and, preparation of hydrogeological and geological engineering assessments and opinions.
